How can I manage blepharitis and red lash lines at 19?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have blepharitis, and my lash line is extremely red to the point that I do not leave my house. I want a job and to make money, but I cannot bring myself to go out. I am 19 years old and feel so stuck.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad you are paying attention to changes in your body. But do not worry, I am here to help you.

Dealing with a visible condition like blepharitis can be incredibly hard and can really affect your confidence, so it is understandable that you feel stuck. You are not alone in this, and there are measures you can take both for your eyes and for your situation in life.

These include:

  • To loosen debris and oils, apply a warm compress to your closed eyes for five to ten minutes twice a day.

  • Then gently clean along the lash line with diluted baby shampoo or a store-bought eyelid cleanser (such as Ocusoft wipes).

While you are working on treatment, you still deserve to live your life and earn money. You could start with remote or flexible jobs such as customer service, writing, data entry, tutoring, or transcription, so you can work from home while protecting your eyes.

Also, practice going out in small steps: a short walk outside, then a trip to the store, and gradually something longer.

I hope this has helped you.

Please feel free to reach out to me again if you have further queries.
