Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 10-year-old girl has a strong body odor. Sometimes, even after sweating due to a hot bath, she smells of sweat. I need to find a way to control her body odor but do not want to use deodorant roll-ons or sprays at this young age. Please suggest alternatives.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. I suggest you apply Clotrimazole dusting powder immediately after a bath for two months (in areas of sweat or odor) and use Cetrimide soap for bathing for two months. I suggest a few guidelines:

  1. Avoid activities that cause sweating.
  2. Avoid wearing tight, synthetic, or woolen clothing.
  3. Wear loose, comfortable, thin cotton clothes.
  4. Avoid exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  5. Avoid heat and humid conditions.
  6. Stay in a well-ventilated room or a cool environment.
  7. Get the necessary blood work done to arrive at a definitive diagnosis.
  8. Are there any autoimmune disorders?
  9. Are there any metabolic disorders?
  10. Are there any neurological illnesses?
  11. Are there any liver or renal issues?
  12. Are there any stress or anxiety issues?
  13. Is there a history of itchy rashes?
  14. Is there a history of atopy?
  15. Are there any recurrent infections?
  16. Is there a history of cold, cough, or fever?

Please revert back with the answers.

Regards.
