Is a brown and yellow discharge after the first period considered normal?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got my first period. I had a brown creamy discharge. Later the next month I had a yellow discharge. Is it normal to have a yellow discharge or is it something serious?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It looks like you have a Candida infection, with a secondary infection. Take a tablet of Cepodem (Cefpodoxime) 200 mg twice a day for 10 days, a tablet of Sporlac DS (probiotics) once a day for 10 days, and apply Canesten (Clotrimazole) vaginal cream with applicator fully filled in the night.

I hope it helps.
