Please suggest some ointment for burn injury.

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My son, who is 2.7 years old, met with a burn injury. Today afternoon, he kept his hand over a hot cooker and got injured. We applied toothpaste immediately and some powder to reduce the burning sensation. Now, after four hours, it has become like a boil. I have attached the image for your reference.

Please suggest some ointment.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. I have seen the picture as well (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

1. A blister has been formed, which needs to be punctured and then it will heal quickly. I suggest you to consult a surgeon.

2. You can apply Silver Sulfadiazine cream (Silvadene) over the ruptured blister twice daily.

3. Maintain hygiene and keep it clean.

Burn injury?

Five quick questions help you understand the severity of a burn injury and when to seek professional care.

For guidance only, not a diagnosis. Medications should be taken after consulting a physician. The dosages will be prescribed by the physician. Do not alter, start, or stop medications without consulting a healthcare professional.
