Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your answer.

I went to a gastroenterologist, who said I had mild gastritis and no H pylori. Could excessive stomach acid cause frequent burps?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

1) Gastritis can cause frequent burbs, bloating and even hiccups.

2) That is great your H.pylori is negative, so there is no need for antibiotic eradication therapy.

3) You should be on PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) which can resolve gastritis, it usually takes some time, like a few weeks, but you would be fine.

4) Meanwhile, kindly follow the above lifestyle modifications related to diet.

5) even painkillers or excessive multivitamins can cause gastritis, so avoid such medicine, if any, for one to two weeks.

Wishing you the best of health.

Thank you.
