What causes mood changes and a lack of sexual desire?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I just got married four months ago. My menstrual cycle is regular, but I have been experiencing severe mood changes and irritability. I am not interested in doing anything or in sexual activities. I am worried that I may be losing my fertility. Will this affect my ability to get pregnant? If so, what should I do now? How can I improve my fertility health and treat this condition completely?

Kindly help.

Hello,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I can understand your concern.

You are not losing your fertility; you may just be experiencing PMS (premenstrual syndrome). Menstrual period dates can occasionally change. If the change exceeds a week, it is considered significant. This variability can be influenced by factors such as medications, illness, and psychological state. PMS can be managed by improving your exercise routine, avoiding alcohol and smoking, and ensuring healthy sleep habits. Additionally, supplements containing vitamin E, magnesium, vitamin B6, and vitamin D can help manage symptoms.

If symptoms persist, oral contraceptive pills can be used for up to six months before discontinuing them. However, PMS does not affect your fertility, so you do not need to worry about losing it.

Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.

Thank you.
