Does pneumonia occur due to poor immunity?

Hello doctor,

My son is 15 years old. He has been suffering from a cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain a few weeks back. I took him to the doctor and got diagnosed with pneumonia. The doctor has advised taking medications. Can pneumonia occur even in small children? How to take care of my kids by preventing this disease as I have two other small kids in my home? Does it occur due to poor immunity? How does this pneumonia attack kids and elderly people? How to keep ourselves healthy and prevent the disease from attacking us? Do we have any vaccination against this disease? How do I manage this disease in my 15-year-old son? How to keep him healthy? Kindly suggest some natural ways to prevent this disease.

1. Continue using inhalers.

2. Consult a pulmonologist.

3. Complete the course of antibiotics, if diagnosed with pneumonia.

4. Keep monitoring your vitals and watch for danger signs.

5. Post two to four weeks of resolution of pneumonia, take vaccination appropriate for the age if not taken already.
