Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am asking on behalf of my dearest friend. She feels pain in her ear. A few months ago, fluid began to flow from her ear, causing tremendous discomfort. She went to the doctor, and he stated it would take time. Her drainage from the ear has stopped. However, about a month ago, the weather changed, and eating outside caused discharge and pain to return.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Based on the picture of the discharge, I believe it is a persistent suppurative inflammation of the middle ear. She needs an ear suction to clear the discharge and topical corticosteroid and antibiotic ear drops three times per day. Moxifloxacin 400 mg is an oral systemic antibiotic that is used once a day. The blood test could be better. Platelets and red cells are below normal; consult a hematologist. I also recommend fasting and a post-prandial blood sugar test.
Hope this helps.
Please, let me know if you want some help.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Can I get to the relation between outside food stuff and her ear discomfort and discharge? Like today she ate a samosa and the pain started in her ear.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Spicy foods trigger ear pain. Also, fast foods have a lot of components that can cause an allergic reaction. Please tell your friend to keep her ears dry and avoid water entry into her ears.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
