Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My calcium score is 2000. My arteries were found to be very hardened during a stent surgery. I was told that I could need an atherectomy. To be certain, I will have to get a Thallium stress test and a computed tomography (CT), and coronary angiography. Can I do them all at once? If yes, in which order?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you have a calcium score of 2000, you will need to undergo atherectomy procedures such as rotablation, tornus, or laser atherectomy, based on your angiographic assessment. A thallium scan is recommended to determine the vitality of cardiac tissue to assess the suitability of stenting. I am not sure why you require CT angiography since invasive angiography may demonstrate coronary calcium and the necessity for a proper debulking device.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
