Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My wife has not had her period for over two months now. She took a Modus 10 mg tablet for five days. Till now, she has not had withdrawal bleeding. Pregnancy tests before starting the Modus tablet were all negative, including beta hCG. Three days back, we had unprotected sex, where we are assuming a little bit of sperm went inside. Could there be a chance of pregnancy? Please advise on the delay in periods even after taking Modus 10 mg.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Well, I am deeply concerned about your worries. Well, if your wife has done a urine pregnancy test and beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) and all are negative, I assure you that there is no chance of pregnancy. Delayed periods may be due to other causes like PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels), and thyroid disorders. I will advise your wife to do the following test.
Serum TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone).
Serum FT4 (free thyroxine).
Serum FT3 (free triiodothyronine).
Serum Prolactin (prolactin).
Serum FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone).
Serum LH (luteinizing hormone).
I suggest the following for management:
Tablet Dydrogesterone 10 mg twice daily for 21 days followed by seven days of pill-free intervals, and continue like this for three months.
Tablet Calpro-D (Calcium and Vitamin D3) once daily for two months.
I hope this information helps you.
Thank you.
