Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 16 years old, and four months ago, a baby tooth came out that I did not even know I had. Unfortunately, my adult tooth has not fully come yet, and I do not know what to do.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Delayed shedding of the baby tooth and late eruption of the permanent tooth has become common nowadays. This can be due to constant changes in our food choices, psychosocial, stress-related factors, health, and nutritional deficiencies. Hereditary factors, compromised oral hygiene, and multiple dental decays could also cause delayed shedding and eruption patterns. Permanent successors gradually replace all our baby teeth within 13 years of age.

You can wait and watch for a couple of months to see if a permanent tooth erupts. It will erupt mostly. Visit a dentist and get an X-ray procedure done to check the status of the unerupted tooth if there is no sign of eruption, even after waiting for a period of two months.

I hope this helps. For further queries, I would be happy to help.
