Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
The dentist did not remove all the staining in between my teeth. What to do?
During my deep cleaning today the dentist said that the tools used were too big to remove the staining in between my teeth so he did not remove them fully. He said in order to fully remove the staining he would have to clean every tooth individually. I had a lot of staining as I neglected my teeth for a few years due to mental illness and lack of insurance. It kind of seemed like he used that as an excuse not to remove all the staining. Is there anything I can do? Should I ask if they can remove the stains fully at a separate appointment or should I go see a different dentist about it?
Please advise.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern, and the thing is, now you have realized that trying to maintain oral hygiene is good enough.
It is the duty of our dental community at all costs to be present for your service. So saying that your in-between-teeth space can not be cleaned might have another possible explanation. There are different pointers for each section in the teeth to be cleaned, and maybe your dentist had different charges for different grades of calculus and deposits on the teeth. If you wish to go to the same dentist, visit one more time and ask clearly about the charges. However, if you feel better about seeing a new dentist, then you must.
I hope my answer was helpful to you.

Thank you.
