Is it safe to use DHEA tablet to increase testosterone?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am currently on 10 mg of Lexapro and was wondering if a DHEA tablet would be safe to take to help improve low testosterone. So, I wanted to ask, is a 25 mg DHEA tablet safe to take with 10 mg of Escitalopram? I have been experiencing low testosterone for years and would like to address it without resorting to TRT.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood it.

It is important to be cautious when combining supplements with prescription medications. Before starting Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), discuss it with your healthcare provider. They can evaluate your overall health, current medications, and potential risks to determine if DHEA is a safe option for you.

I suggest you follow this for addressing low testosterone:

  1. Lifestyle changes: Regular exercise, a balanced diet, adequate sleep, and stress management can help improve testosterone levels naturally.

  2. Medical evaluation: If low testosterone is a concern, consider seeing an endocrinologist. They can perform a thorough evaluation and recommend appropriate treatments, which might include lifestyle changes, medications, or other therapies.

Talk to your healthcare provider about your symptoms and the potential use of DHEA. They can provide personalized advice and monitor your progress.

I hope this has helped you.

Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
