Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 18-year-old female, weighing 127 pounds and my height is around 5 feet three inches. Recently my eyes have been extremely dry. The other day I woke up and my eye was so swollen that it even looks wrinkly. At first, it was only my right eye but then my left eye became extremely dry too. I took Cetrizine so it is not puffy anymore but it is so dry. I use an eczema cream on it because I have eczema. Also, I got dry patches on my smile lines and the corners of my lips. ( I have not had eczema for a long time) Please help me.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I am sorry to hear about that, I understand your concern. As you have provided a little background of past illnesses that are eczema, I would like to tell you that a person suffering from eczema can develop dryness anywhere on the skin. Other manifestations can be rashes, bumps, fissures, flakiness, peeling, or redness. It can also cause a variety of eye problems like inflamed eyelids.
1. A few things that may help are using artificial tear drops (lubricants), which can help in reducing eye dryness,
2. Avoid staying in an air conditioner as it can lead to eye irritation and more dryness.
3. Avoid watching mobile or gadgets or small screens for some time.
4. Pure coconut oil can help in strengthening the skin.
Kindly see a local doctor nearby if the symptoms progress. Without a physical examination commenting on if it is an eczema recurrence or not will be difficult. Avoid stress, keep yourself well hydrated, and eat nutritious food. Feel free to reach out in any case.
Thank you.
