Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old man who is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 165.3 pounds. I just had a blood test, and most of my results appear to be within the normal range, with the exception of a CK of 612 units/L. Kindly help.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I was not experiencing any symptoms, so I took them to check my general health.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The total CK (creatinine kinase) value is 612 units/L, and the CK MB (creatine kinase-myoglobin binding) value is 21 units/L. This suggests that the high CK level is not caused by heart muscle. Creatine kinase is a protein found in muscles. It comes in three varieties: CK MB (creatine kinase-myoglobin binding), CK MM (creatine kinase found in skeletal tissue), and CK BB (creatine kinase found in brain tissue). The total CK value is the sum of all of them. If the overall CK level is high, it is critical to know the value of CK MB since CK MB indicates heart muscle damage. Your CK MB level is normal, showing that the increased level is related to CK MM.

Skeletal muscular damage causes CK MM. There is a wide range of possible diagnoses for high CK MM levels. I would like to direct you to the source of the increased level. The total CK level may be elevated prior to interpreting a medical state owing to recent hard activity, repetitive intramuscular injection, recent trauma with muscle damage, and other factors.

I would like to know if any of the conditions listed above were present during that particular laboratory test. Please schedule a chat session for further discussion, so that I can help you rule out the source of your increased CK level and address any other questions you may have.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks
