What are the ways to increase the thickness of uterine lining?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I would like to know how long it takes for the uterus lining to thicken. I have been using birth control for about six years and I am now off of it for almost two months. We are trying for a baby but I was told that the uterus lining usually needs to be 9 mm at least. Could you please help me with what I can do to increase it and how long does it take?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is a well-known fact that birth control pills especially oral contraceptives suppress ovulation and hence cause thinning of endometrial lining. This is more when used for a prolonged time and you have used it for six years. You need to get investigated for pelvic inflammatory diseases. Get an ultrasound for ovulation tracing. If ovulation is occurring normally, thickness is bound to increase. If not, then you need to wait. It is important to remember that if ovulation is not occurring, you need not pump your system with ovulation induction drugs. Go for more of a vegetables and raw fruits diet with a moderate exercise regime along with meditation. Also, try to reduce sexual contact and give time to the body to regain strength as hormonal balance is a very delicate system. Also, take vitamin E and B complex tablets.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
