Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with pancreatic problems for seven years, and my gastroenterologist mentioned exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Could you provide a detailed explanation of this condition? Are there any dietary changes I should consider?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

The pancreas is a gland in your body that lies just below the stomach. The pancreas has both exocrine and endocrine functions. Exocrine function means that it secretes a lot of digestive enzymes in your small intestine, which helps digest your food. Endocrine functions consist of secreting many hormones, including insulin, which helps in regulating blood glucose levels. Due to some pathological condition, your pancreas is not able to secrete a sufficient quantity of these enzymes to digest your food.

Creon consists of these enzymes that help in the digestion of your food when taken orally.

Dietary changes I would suggest are avoiding very fatty meals and eat easily digestible cooked food which is light on your stomach. Eat lots of green vegetables and salads.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks and regards.
