Hi doctor,

I am in consultation with another ayurveda specialist in icliniq for skin rashes and itching, and I am taking the medicines as per the doctor's recommendation. I also did all the tests which she suggested. But, she is not available now, so I want your opinion on my test reports. The frequency and intensity of itching and rashes have decreased. As I will be fasting for this entire month, what should I do? Please suggest. Can I continue my fasting? I am attaching the past and current test reports with a summary sheet for your reference.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query and saw all your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

  • All the investigations that you have performed are almost in the normal range or borderline, so as your physician has prescribed you medications, take them accordingly. Because by the current investigations, I do not feel any need to change or add any other new medication.
  • As far as fasting is concerned, as per your rituals, you can do it. But always keep in mind that although your blood sugar level is normal but still if you feel any symptoms like rapid heartbeat, vertigo, excessive sweating, or any other abnormal symptom, then immediately lie down and check your blood sugar level.
  • If your blood sugar level is 70, then it indicates hypoglycemia, which means your body requires sugar and take action accordingly if you are allowed to take something in between fasting, then you can take something to eat, otherwise, do consult a nearby physician. But if you feel normal, then you can go for fasting easily.
  • Also, if you have blood pressure issues, then also keep on checking your BP twice or thrice a day till you fast. Mild changes in blood pressure range are not an issue till you have any symptoms.

I hope you find my answer helpful. Thank you.

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your suggestions. Earlier, I was taking Metformin 500 mg in the morning, and my doctor advised last month to take Metformin 500 mg once in two days. Should I continue taking Metformin? Can I completely stop taking Metformin?

#

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Keep taking Metformin 500 mg once in two days, otherwise, it may disturb your blood sugar level because right now it is controlled. However, keep on checking your blood sugar level regularly till your fasting continues, as fasting might decrease sugar level.
  • If someday fasting sugar is below 70, then you can skip your tablet.
  • Try to check your sugar level two times a day till fasting if possible. Otherwise, do it on every third day.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For more queries, you can consult me.
