Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The yolk sac and gestational sac are present in transvaginal sonography, but the fetal pole is missing. I am experiencing pregnancy-like symptoms. Is my pregnancy safe? I had severe cramps two weeks ago and visited the doctor. She denied the pregnancy. Last week, the pregnancy was confirmed with the presence of the gestational sac and yolk sac, but the fetal pole was still missing. I was asked to repeat the scan. What should I do? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. In early pregnancy, locating the fetal pole and detecting a heartbeat can sometimes be difficult. This is often considered a technical error. Therefore, we usually suggest repeating the scan after two weeks. Right now, there is no need to worry. I hope you are taking regular folic acid and progesterone tablets. Itis important to stay hydrated, so make sure to drink at least 0.79 gallons of water per day. Additionally, include more green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. If you experience severe pain or any bleeding, please consult with your nearby gynecologist immediately.

I hope your queries are resolved and any further queries are welcome.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Is there anything to be worried about?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Right now, if there is no pain (light pain may occur at times) and no bleeding or spotting, there is nothing to worry about. In about five to 10 percent of early pregnancies, it can be difficult to see the sac, fetal pole, or heartbeat, but 90 percent of them show the fetal pole and heartbeat in follow-up scans. So, relax and do not get stressed.

Thank you.
