Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My four-year-old boy has a temperature of 100.7 Fahrenheit on his forehead, 102 Fahrenheit in his kidneys, and 103.7 in his stomach.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Usually, we recommend armpit thermometers as they are more accurate than infrared thermometers. Please use an armpit thermometer, and find out the actual temperature of your child. If the temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more, you can give syrup paracetamol (240 mg/mL) (dose as per the weight of the child) SOS for four to six hours. If the temperature is 102 F or more, you can give syrup ibuprofen (dose as per the weight of the child) for six to eight hours. If the temperature stays above 100 F for more than three days or if the temperature crosses 103 Fahrenheit, it is advisable to get evaluated physically by a pediatrician with possible blood investigations based on physical examination. Use syrup loratadine (dose as per the weight of the child) thrice a day for three days for nasal discharge. Reduce intake of bread and bread products, milk, chocolates, and chips and increase intake of water for long-term benefits with regards to constipation. Medications for constipation are to be started only after the child is completely right.
Take care
Thank you
