Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 24 years old. I have been suffering from loose motion for the past week. Initially, it was watery stool, but now a gel-like substance is coming out, and I have to visit the bathroom repeatedly with intervals of two to three minutes. I am also experiencing pain in my anus. The stool is black in color and thick. I am feeling very weak. Please suggest something.

Hello,

Thank you for trusting us with your healthcare.

I have just read your query, and it seems that you are suffering from severe gastroenteritis. I suggest taking tablet Hyoscine (Buscopan) 10 mg twice a day for three days. Also, take Tablet Metronidazole 500 mg twice a day for 3 days. If you do not have diabetes or blood pressure issues, please consider using an oral rehydration solution. Make sure to drink eight to ten glasses of water daily. Avoid sweet drinks and consume more yogurt. In the meantime, try to stick to a diet of boiled foods. If your rectal bleeding does not stop, it is essential to visit the nearest emergency room for an examination.

I hope you find my advice beneficial.

Thank you.
