Can a giant cell tumor be treated with radiotherapy?

Hi doctor,

My wife felt a heavy pain in her buttocks two months ago. The doctor suggested MRI. MRI shows a large sacral mass. The doctor suggests surgery (decompression). After the biopsy doctor confirmed it as a giant cell tumor. He also he suggested radiotherapy to prevent local recurrence. But when we talked to a radio oncologist directely denied giving radiotherapy. The radiation doctor told us radiotherapy was dangerous for giant cell tumors because in the future it may be turned into sarcoma or secondary malignancy. We are totally confused and helpless. Please help us.

What can we do?

A recent oncologist doctor prescribes six Zoledronic acid injections one each month.

As per the histopathology report (attachment removed for patient identity protection), it is a benign lesion, possibly a bone cyst. If it is true, then I am not in favor of radiotherapy. But only MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) will help in knowing how complete the surgical removal of the tumor is. If she is better now and MRI shows complete or near complete resection of the lesion, it may not need radiotherapy. So I suggest doing another MRI and sending me the report.
