What could be causing the discharge from my penis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old male. I recently had unsafe sex, and it has been a couple of days now, and I noticed a sort of discharge from my penis. It does not burn when I pee or anything like that, but when I shower and clean myself, it will go away. However, it comes back and seems to come out little by little.

Please guide.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am very sorry to hear about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body. Do not worry I am here to take care of you.

Based on your symptoms, I believe you may have developed gonococcal urethritis, an inflammatory disease of the urethra caused by the gonococcal organism, typically transmitted through sexual contact. Please schedule a urethral swab test and share the results with me.

In the meantime, I recommend the following treatment:

  1. Ceftriaxone 1g injection, once daily for one week.

  2. Metronidazole 400 mg, two tablets orally, three times a day for one week.

Please let me know if you want some help.

Thank you.
