What could cause urethral itching and pus discharge post sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex a month ago. After two weeks of exposure, I got symptoms of an itchy urethra and pus after a few days of symptoms. I did all the STI tests including urine culture. All tests were negative including syphilis. Then I started antibiotics Azithromycin one time followed by Cefixime 400 mg once a day for 14 days. The symptoms are very very mild but still have not cleared because I still have very unusual penis inflammation, sometimes itchy but very mild.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

You may have developed urethritis as a result of the sexually transmitted disease. When you test for a sexually transmitted disease, there are chances the test might not come positive for various reasons. However, it is correct to presume you still have one and treat it accordingly.

The treatment that you are on is appropriate, however you do need some additional medications to heal your urethra. Please consult with a doctor in your city and ask for a prescription for the following medications:

Tab Flomax for one month. Tab Chymoral Forte for one month. Tab Econorm for one month. Tab Cranberry and D Mannose for one month. In addition to this please drink three liters of water per day. Avoid sexual activity without a condom.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Take care.

Thank you.
