Could consuming a large amount of MDMA lead to a delayed heart attack?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Three weeks ago, I consumed a large amount of MDMA and I discussed my negative experience with several individuals. I have also undergone electrocardiograms (ECGs) to ensure my well-being. However, I am concerned about the possibility of experiencing a heart attack a few weeks later due to the significant dose I took. I have been experiencing brief episodes of shooting chest pain, that last for a few seconds. I would like to know if there is a potential link between consuming a large dose of MDMA and the occurrence of a heart attack weeks later, or if these symptoms are simply anxiety-related or unrelated. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concerns, and I want to reassure you that you are safe and will be fine. It is likely that the symptoms you are experiencing are a result of paranoia or anxiety triggered by the large amount you used.

It is important to note that overdosing on medication like the one you mentioned can potentially have cardiovascular effects, but these effects typically occur immediately after use. Since you are not experiencing immediate cardiovascular symptoms, it suggests that the overdose is not posing an immediate danger.

I strongly advise you to discontinue this harmful habit. Substance abuse can have severe consequences and can often lead to tragic outcomes. You are young and have many years ahead of you, so it is important to make good use of your time and prioritize your well-being.

To alleviate the symptoms and aid in your recovery, I suggest you drink two to four cups of milk and two liters of water daily. Staying hydrated can help alleviate the symptoms and promote a faster recovery.

I hope I have addressed your concerns. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
