Heart transplantation is a surgery in which the diseased heart or malfunctioning heart of a person is replaced with a healthy heart from a donor. A heart from the donor has to be placed in the recipient within four hours of removal from the donor. Patients with cardiomyopathy, class IV angina, non-obstructive hypertrophic heart disease, etc., are indicated for heart transplant surgery.
