Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I developed a rash in the groin area (rash had blisters post shaving, small itching at the beginning but no pain or fever). I got a HSV Igm & Igg test, test and the results came positive for HSV 1 and 2 (Grouped) IgM and IGG but came out negative for HSV Igg. Also followed this by a HSV PCR test but this came out as "not detected" for HSV 1 and 2. I am struggling with interpreting the results and would like to know if there are any other tests needed. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

In March 2023, I recently developed a rash in my upper pubic area after using a shaving cream to shave. The rash had some blisters, small itchiness at the start but no other symptoms. This is not the 1st incident as I had a rash in Dec 2023 at the same spot after shaving with razor. Spoke to a Dr in Dec 2023 who suspected that its was foccultis and prescribed antibiotics and topical antibiotic cream (Flouxomalin and Clindamycin) As I was travelling, did not fill prescription but took Augmetin. Rash reoccurred in March 2023 after using a shaving cream - consulted Drs via telemedicine - suspected impetigo but also spoke to a Dr who suspected HSV. Did a HSV serology test (Igg and IgM) and PCR DNA test with mixed results hence the consultation. Initial HSV Igg and IgM indicated presence of a HsV infection (HSV 1 &2 grouped -no differentiation) HSV 2 Igg was however negative. Given this confusion proceeded to do a PCR DNA test but HSV was not detected on this. Grateful if I could get some clarification on what could be the cause for this and how can I differentiate if this could be HSV 1 &2 and how do I identify if this is a false positive. I have also included pictures of the 2 incidents and copies of the lab tests. Dr recommended acyclovir 400mg dissolvable tablets and acitop cream. Rashes has been drying up Lab test attached
