Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I began hormone replacement therapy 12 days ago and I was advised to take Utrogestan for two days. I am worried as I do not want to start bleeding again if I stop the Progesterone today. What should I do?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that you are receiving from your doctor is a very good combination of Estrogen and Progesterone which are the female hormones in the right dosage and in the right form to have minimum side effects. These are basically given to avoid the vaginal dryness and the hot flushes that you experience. I would suggest you that you should abide by the doctor and the duration of the dosage that she is describing because any change in the dose or duration can lead to irregular bleeding which would be then the time-bound bleed which usually gets after four months. You can do one thing if you are having very heavy bleeding you can continue the Oestrogel (Estradiol) applied locally for the whole month which could reduce your bleeding to a light bleed so that your daily course or any important event is not disturbed.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
