Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 18 years old and had intercourse for the first time, but I have a small vagina and my boyfriend has fingered me which was painful. When tried to have intercourse it hurt really bad, we tried different positions and his penis would always slip out. When went inside, it felt like I got cut, but just a little. But right after he took out his penis I started to bleed. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
As you know, virgin females have a hymen, and it mostly ruptures during their first sexual experience. So, it is a common occurrence at your age. Now, it is essential to avoid any sexual activity in that area for almost a month because it takes time to heal. After that, there may still be some occasional bleeding, once or twice, but it should eventually stop. The vagina will also stretch out a bit, so it should mostly be fine. If there is more fresh bleeding that continues and does not stop at all, then it is advisable to consult a nearby gynecologist to assess whether any sutures are needed. However, this is very rarely required and will usually stop gradually. So, if the bleeding decreases or the color appears altered, it is likely good, and you can wait. If there is a cut that is bleeding, you can try compressing it for three to four minutes and it should stop. But as I mentioned, complete healing takes time, so you have to be patient. Engaging in sexual activity before complete healing can lead to repeated bleeding.
Thanks and regards.
