What is the correct dosage of Glycopyrrolate for hyperhidrosis?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I took Glycopyrrolate 2 mg three times a day after reading that it can be very effective for hyperhidrosis. I am amazed at how well it worked for me! I had a fantastic day today without worrying about sweaty palms or feet.
I am seeking medical advice on the appropriate dosage to keep my hyperhidrosis under control. Should I continue taking 2 mg three times a day, and then switch to 2 mg once a day as a maintenance dose after one week of being on 6 mg per day?
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Please note that Glycopyrrolate is a prescription drug and should not be taken without medical supervision. It can cause various side effects, including dry mouth, urinary retention, constipation, bowel obstruction, blurring of vision, tachycardia, arrhythmia, glaucoma, nausea, headache, vomiting, and dizziness.
Before starting a patient on Glycopyrrolate, we always consult with an ophthalmologist to rule out glaucoma. In male patients, we also perform a blood test and examination to rule out prostate issues.
We generally adjust the dosage according to the patient's symptoms. The standard protocol is to start with 1 mg twice daily, then increase the dose by 1 mg each week until the desired effect is achieved or side effects occur.
I hope this answers your query. Feel free to reach out anytime.
Thank you.
