How to manage bowel movements issues in toddlers?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My toddler out of nowhere started crying in pain while having a bowel movement. Sometimes nothing comes out. I thought it was constipation but when he does poop, his stools are soft. I also found out that he had pinworms. Could that be the reason for him to cry in pain? Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
With the information provided, yes, there is a possibility that he gets abdominal pain due to worms and more so if he has other types of bugs like Amoeba or Giardia. I suggest you get a routine stool analysis and check ova and cysts. Meanwhile, give this medicine for worms syrup Zentel (Albendazole) 100 mg or 5 ml. Give 10 ml today once and repeat the same after two weeks. The bottle contains 20 ml of syrup, so one bottle is sufficient. Connect with me after getting the stool report and I will advise you accordingly. I hope you find this helpful.
Thank you.
