Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have bumps on my leg that are a little rough but not itchy. I also have some of those patches on my hands.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and examined your picture (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity. It appears to come from ingrown hairs. Shaving, waxing, and tweezing unwanted face and body hair are the most prevalent causes of ingrown hairs. By removing hair and leaving the sharp tip of the hair so near to the skin surface, it is more likely to grow sideways or coil back into the hair follicle and become caught under the skin surface, causing irritation and inflammation. Treatment for ingrown hairs varies, and occasionally the ingrown hair may cure on its own without any treatment at all. Once daily, use a topical steroid cream containing 0.1 % Mometasone (Mometasone furoate). Inflammation will get reduced within one to two weeks of use. Retino-A 0.025 % (Tretinoin) can also be used locally at night for the same time to remove keratin and allow ingrown hairs to emerge. Consult your doctor, speak with him or her, and use the medication with his or her permission. Review in two weeks for further management.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
