What are the possible causes for scratch injuries?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am currently worried something is going on, possibly internal bleeding of some kind. I am a hypochondriac, so I am sorry if I am overreacting. I accidentally poked myself near my right wrist and now it feels slightly warmer. There is no current discoloration, swelling, etc. It still hurts and I do not see any visible change. I would not be worried if it was not near one of the most artery-filled areas of the body. I also have scratch injuries near the bottom of my arm and the back of my middle finger, all on the right arm, but still. Should I be worried?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I am glad you are paying attention to changes in your body system. Regarding your symptoms, I do not think you should be worried since it was just poked. I will advise you to clean the area with spirit and apply topical 0.1 percent Clindamycin twice daily for one week and take two tablets of Acetaminophen 500 milligrams thrice daily for one week and vitamin C for one week. Reply to me if you have more concerns or questions by scheduling a direct appointment or following up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
