Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My mother is 50 years old. We recently had an ultrasound done due to her experiencing heavy bleeding, requiring more than two pads a day. The results revealed that she has an intramural fibroid measuring 6 cm.
She is not inclined to undergo surgery or have her uterus removed. The doctor prescribed her a progesterone tablet to stop the bleeding and a uterine tonic for overall uterine health. However, during this time, she has been experiencing vomiting, headaches, and fatigue, likely due to the heavy bleeding.
Could you please suggest alternatives to surgery that might help manage her condition?
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
I am very sorry to hear about your medical condition, but I am glad you are paying close attention to the changes in your body. Please do not worry; I am here to help take care of you.
Regarding your mother’s symptoms, it appears she may have developed a uterine fibroid, which is causing continuous heavy vaginal bleeding. I see that she was prescribed progesterone and uterine tonic medication. Please have her discontinue these medications and consider the following if she prefers not to undergo surgery.
Ulipristal acetate 5 mg, taken orally once daily for one month.
I hope this recommendation is helpful. If you have any additional concerns or questions, feel free to schedule a direct appointment or follow up via chat, phone, or video consultation.
Thank you for using iCliniq, and have a great day!
I hope that you get your answer.
Please let me know if you want some help.
