Does an intra uterine device cause breast size reduction?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 36-year-old woman with no major medical issues. I have joined my local gym where I have had help from a personal trainer with exercises and healthy eating, I am now healthy with 27% body fat and a BMI of 25. I have noticed a sudden decrease in the size of my breasts to almost seven cups less in two weeks. I am concerned that the size is decreasing due to the intra-uterine device that was inserted two weeks before starting my gym. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern,

The intrauterine device, Mirena coil is not known to cause breast reduction. Losing weight can lead to a reduction in breast size due to loss of fat in the breast.

  1. Take estrogen-rich foods like soy products, red beans, and flax seeds.
  2. Fenugreek, fennel, and yam are very well-known increase breast size.
  3. Some exercises that strengthen pectoral muscles also increase breast size like push-ups and palm pushing exercises.
  4. All these measures may take some time to show effect.
  5. Breast augmentation surgery can be done for a faster outcome.
  6. The breast size can be increased by taking estrogen supplements.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medications.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
