Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had high BP due to which my kidneys got affected and my creatnine was 1.39 and I was taking BP medicines as per my cardiologist. Then after 15 days my cretanine level was 1.61. My doctor said it is because my BP was not normal yet, but now my BP is normal and today my test report says my cretanine level is 1.63. Is it ok ? Or do I need some kidney medication? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to iclinic.com
I understand your concern.
Your blood pressure was high and the kidney might be affected by high blood pressure, and so mild nephropathy. In hypertension induced kidney disease, it is desirable to control blood pressure strictly, less than 130/80 mm of Hg. Along with that weight reduction, and daily exercise. Also, reduce the intake of salt. Rule out other associated abnormalities like diabetes, which can also affect the kidney. In hypertension-associated kidney disease, angiotensin receptor blockers or angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor groups of drugs like Telmisartan or Enalapril can be helpful. I would also suggest getting an in person consultation with a nephrologist.
I hope this helps.
