Can studying animal brains contribute to advancements in both technology and the medical field?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a graduate student. Last night, we discussed with a few fellows from the other stream. They were seniors. They told us something fascinating: they have been working on monitoring and analyzing the brains of live monkeys, checking them when the monkeys are making decisions. How is this helpful, Doctor? Does it serve any purpose? Could this be the future of robotics and artificial limbs or something?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for reaching out to iCliniq.

Yes, the study of animal brains, such as that of monkeys by research analysts, has been widely analyzed and developed to understand how it can be applied to robotics and artificial intelligence. This is because many sectors aim to gradually replace human jobs with these mammals or robotic technology as a way to reduce costs and maximize earnings. Medically, the mammal's brain has also been analyzed to determine if hormone content can be extracted from it to cure humans with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, mental illness, and possibly cerebral palsy.

Thanks for using icliniq, and have a nice day.
