Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a couple of these patches on the same type of places on my face for the past few years. I am 54 years old and just recently started going through menopause in the last year or so. The places start out as a pimple, a small white head. The skin around them starts to peel leaving an indention. I have had this place for five months and when it looks like it is healing it looks as if all the pores have filled. If you try to squeeze out all the tiny pimples, they will not budge. Therefore, I have been removing them with tweezers. However, if you do not pull the entire thing out, they are back the next day. It is now a sore that is inflamed and will not heal. I have used antibiotic cream previously and had these patches on my chin which took several months to heal. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. Well, I suggest you not touch or squeeze the pimple otherwise it would leave a scar or marks. Do not apply any oily cream or steroid-based cream over the pimple. It is due to your menopausal phase which causes hormonal change and such pimple like thing appears on your face so follow the following treatment:

1. Clindamycin gel - this is more preventive and curative so use it all over the face in the morning.

2. Adapalene gel (Adalene or Differin) – use it over acne at night.

3. Tab Doxy (Doxycycline and Ascorbic acid) 100 mg once a day.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
