How to manage irregular menstrual cycle?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am writing to seek medical advice regarding my menstrual cycle. My last period started and ended, and I have not had a period and I am 44 days delayed. I had unprotected intercourse, and I have taken multiple pregnancy tests, all of which came back negative. It was my first time experiencing this after unprotected sex and my period was delayed. Lately, I have been experiencing some unusual symptoms, including bloating, mild cramps, and a feeling of fullness in my upper abdomen after eating small portions. I am concerned about the prolonged delay of my period and these symptoms, and I would like to know if further testing or evaluation is needed. Can you give me a prescription to regulate my period? I cannot afford to go to the obstetrician-gynecologists for a transvaginal ultrasound.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed delayed menses due to hormone imbalance, infection, or use of previous medication. I do not think you are pregnant based on the series of pregnancy tests you have done. So, please do a hormone profile test and thyroid function test to rule out any hormone disturbances, and reply to me with the results. Meanwhile, please take the following to regulate your menses: one tablet of Medroxyprogesterone 10 mg for one month. Reply to me if you have more concerns or questions by scheduling a direct appointment or follow-up via chat, phone, or video consultation.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
