Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I missed my period this month. For the last two months, I was having irregular periods, and I missed them this month. I am doing regular workouts and dieting. Not done any physical intercourse for eight to nine months.
Kindly suggest.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you. Since you have had irregular periods for the past two months and have now completely missed your period this month, but have not had any sexual activity for eight to nine months, pregnancy is not a concern. Your situation most likely points to lifestyle-related menstrual irregularity. So, there are likely causes of this irregularity, and they may include:
1. Intense exercise: Regular, high-intensity workouts can disrupt the hormone signals that regulate ovulation and menstruation, especially if you are doing cardio or resistance training frequently.
2. Dieting or low body fat: Rapid weight loss, restrictive eating, or not eating enough calories can reduce estrogen production, leading to missed or delayed periods.
3. Stress (physical or emotional): Big changes like starting a new fitness or diet routine can stress the body, affecting your cycle.
4. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS): If you have always had irregular cycles, acne, or excess body hair, PCOS could be a factor.
Above all, I believe your situation is due to a hormone imbalance. Please take the following to help out:
One tablet of medroxyprogesterone 10 mg (milligrams) orally, once a day for one month.
I hope this information will help you.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
