What are the precautions after mitral replacement?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is 64 years old and has undergone mitral valve replacement surgery for mitral stenosis. Currently, she is on Acitrom 2.3 mg, Ecosprin 150 mg, Dytor 5 plus, and Betaloc 25 mg (Metoprolol) BD; she also had AF, which is under control now. What steps should we take next?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Instead of climbing stairs if she is walking, did she find any difficulty? I will suggest you change the medicine - Dytor 5 instead of Dytor 5 Plus. Add Cardace 2.5 mg tablets daily after breakfast and continue all the other medications. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

In this case, pulmonary hypertension is due to left heart failure or other causes.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

This may be due to the disease of the left-sided heart valve. It is a mitral valve in this case.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
