Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have noticed a mole and I am worried about it. It is not hurting. Could you please check this mole? Can I send you a picture? I am generally in good health, although I have had melanoma in the past.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
As you have had a previous history of melanoma, it is good to have a consultation to rule out other complications. Due to being an online consultation, images would help to some extent. Usually for mole examination, one may need an in-person consultation for testing the area using dermatoscopy to check the content of the mole.
From the image shown, if there are no changes in the size, shape, or color as compared to before, it is normal. However, if there appear to be changes in diameter, color where the color looks light and dark in certain areas only, change in the outline making it appear irregular, and any asymmetry in the appearance of the mole as compared to before they could be signs of melanoma.
Since you have mentioned no such changes and have mentioned being healthy overall with no noticeable alterations, the chances of the mole being normal are higher. However, for safety purposes, I would highly recommend a direct consultation with a dermatologist for testing and examining the mole well before providing a confirmative diagnosis.
Make sure to avoid direct sun exposure and make sure to use sunscreens and physical protection like sleeve shirts, and full pants. Eyewear is needed depending on the time, area, and duration of exposure.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
