What does stomach pain after taking unwanted pills indicate?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife is 19 years old and she unwantedly got pregnant one month ago. She took a MTP kit for 20 days. She took medicine for 10 days but there is no bleeding only daily pain in her stomach and pain in her waist side. Please help me with what to do.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for trusting us with your health care. I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. Abortion pills can only be taken under the supervision of a doctor because they may cause infection, severe bleeding, and retained products of conception. She can take the medicine for up to seven weeks. As she is bleeding after pills it could be due to retained products of conception. Get her pelvic ultrasound done to rule out the same. You can give her analgesics and multivitamins for the same. You can book an appointment with me after her ultrasound reports come. I hope you found it useful. Feel free to ask for more information.

Thank you.
