What leads to far vision problems with blue cut lenses?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am using blue cut lenses, and I face problems in focusing far objects, especially at night. I tested three days ago, and now I am using new glasses.

Please guide me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Based on your description, the difficulty you are experiencing in focusing on distant objects, especially at night, even after receiving new glasses, could be due to a few possible factors. These include:

  1. Night myopia (also known as night blindness).

  2. Slight under-correction in your prescription.

  3. Astigmatism that might not have been fully addressed in your last eye exam.

Blue cut lenses are helpful in reducing screen-related eye strain, but they do not specifically correct distance vision issues. I would recommend a follow-up visit with your optometrist for a thorough reassessment, including a night vision test if possible. Additionally, checking your eye pressure and retinal health is important at your age if symptoms persist.

If you would like a more detailed evaluation or guidance moving forward, I would be happy to assist you further through a one-on-one consultation. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you.
