What could be the cause of numbness in hands and legs with back pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from the following symptoms for the past three years.

1. A painful tongue especially on the right side of my mouth. The pain comes and goes.

2. There is numbness in my cheeks, hands, and feet.

3. There is back pain that comes and goes.

4. My vision feels slightly off.

5. I have really bad anxiety and mood swings.

6. I also have irritable bowel syndrome and psoriasis on my knees and head.

I do not smoke or drink. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

It seems you have been suffering from a progressive demyelinating disease, which may be a disease called Guillain-Barre syndrome. Have you ingested any poisonous substance or been exposed to the flu in the past? I suggest you do a CT (computed tomography) scan of the brain, electromyography test, and sweat chloride test. Meanwhile, I suggest you take two tablets of Dexamethasone (glucocorticoid medication) twice daily for one week.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
