Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 24 years old and weigh approximately 132 pounds. I have a simple right ovarian cyst that is causing me pain, especially when my period is approaching. I also experience pain during intercourse. I have not taken any medication yet.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
A simple ovarian cyst usually does not cause pain unless it becomes large. That is why I would like you to get an ultrasound to check the exact size. The symptoms you described, such as severe period pain and pain during intercourse, are more commonly seen with endometriotic cysts rather than simple cysts.
You have also not mentioned the current size of the cyst. Since it has been one year, it is important to repeat the ultrasound to see whether the cyst has increased in size. Large cysts can sometimes twist on themselves, a condition called torsion, which can cause sudden and severe pain and requires urgent treatment. An updated ultrasound will help us determine the type of cyst and decide the best next step for you.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
