Does gastric issues leads to heart palpitations?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old and I am working in the night shift. I had left chest pain, but all my tests like ECG (electrocardiogram), echo, x-ray, and blood test are normal, says the doctor, but I still have heart palpitations and sometimes dizziness, this feels more when I have spicy, oily, or alcohol food (occasionally).

Sometimes I still feel pinching pain in my left side chest. Do I need to worry or do I need to go for another test? Or I am just thinking too deeply and stressing out myself? It has already been three-plus months and sometimes I feel good and sometimes I do not, that is why I feel worried about it. Is it worrying or does it normally take time?

I have been suffering from gastric problems for a long time too because I have been drinking milk tea or milk coffee since I was young, could that be also a reason? I have noticed when I have junk food or other things like alcohol or sometimes hukka too, I feel when I burp, something stuck in my throat or came out sour. Is it from gastric or acid reflux? Does it also cause heart palpitations or dizziness? Is it heart problems?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Sorry about your health, but do not worry you will recover. You are suffering from gastritis with GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Along with that, you are suffering from anxiety neurosis. You have to take plenty of liquids orally. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks.

Use capsule Esomeprazole before breakfast for a week. If symptoms are not improved, please get it done with an upper GI (gastrointestinal) endoscopy and review the reports.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
