Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 27 years old. I have heart palpitations. I have an MVP with anterior mitral leaflet (AML) tip prolapse.
Please suggest a solution.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
MVP (mitral valve prolapse) is seen in many patients and does not cause any significant long-term clinical problems if it is not associated with moderate or severe valve leakage. It would have been helpful if you had shared your echocardiogram report, as it would have allowed assessment of the degree of associated valve leakage. If the leakage is mild or mild to moderate, there is generally nothing to worry about. In such cases, only periodic follow-up visits with your cardiologist, as advised, are required.
Some people with MVP may occasionally experience palpitations. To determine the exact cause of these palpitations, a 24-hour Holter monitoring test is recommended. This helps identify whether skipped beats or premature beats are responsible for your symptoms and allows appropriate treatment if needed.
Please remember that an MVP not associated with significant valve leakage does not lead to long-term health problems. Maintaining a healthy heart lifestyle is usually sufficient.
Regarding Telinorm AM (Telmisartan plus Amlodipine), if you are taking it for blood pressure control and your blood pressure is well controlled, you may continue the medication as prescribed.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again for further queries.
Thank you.
