What could cause difficulty in achieving a complete erection and decreased libido after intense sexual activity?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am writing to discuss a concerning issue related to my sexual health that has been bothering me. Approximately a week ago, I engaged in sexual activity with my partner, during which we had intercourse multiple times. I ejaculated each time. However, I am now experiencing difficulty achieving a full erection. Over the course of the week, I have met with my partner on several occasions and attempted different activities, including role-playing, but I have been unable to achieve a complete and satisfactory erection. Although I received oral stimulation from my partner, my erection did not reach its maximum potential. Additionally, I have noticed a decrease in my libido and overall arousal. I am unsure whether this is indicative of low testosterone levels, erectile dysfunction, or if it is simply a result of the intense sexual activity I engaged in previously, and my reproductive system requires time to recover.

I would greatly appreciate your professional insights and advice regarding this matter.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Based on the information provided, it appears that the issue you are experiencing is likely related to psychological factors rather than low testosterone levels or any specific medical condition such as erectile dysfunction (ED). It is not uncommon for having occasional difficulties with achieving or maintaining an erection to occur without a specific cause.

In such cases, it is important to understand that the unconscious stress and anticipation of future difficulties can contribute to further loss of libido and performance anxiety during sexual encounters. To address this, it is recommended to take a relaxed approach and avoid putting pressure on yourself. Taking a break from sexual activity for a few days can also help reduce anxiety. It is important to communicate openly with your partner about your concerns and ensure a supportive and understanding environment.

Remember that psychological factors can have a significant impact on sexual performance, and by remaining relaxed and not anticipating any difficulties, you can help alleviate stress and improve the overall experience. If the issue persists or causes significant distress, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare professional who specializes in sexual health for further guidance and support.

Thank you for consulting me.
