What could cause blood in urine after a PCNL surgery?

Hello doctor,
Finally, I had my PCNL procedure done last week to remove my staghorn stones. The operation went very well and I was discharged the following day. A lot of blood came out in my urine and in the next couple of days it started to reduce, and my urine turned light brownish and pinkish. However this evening much blood came about in my urine again. Is it normal for sudden reversion of more blood in the urine one week after the surgery? I have a stent inside me.

I am glad to hear that you underwent surgery and that it went well. A little bleeding post-procedure is expected, especially after surgery for staghorn stones. However, you should not have gross fresh blood in your urine all the time.
A little pinkish is expected but should settle down in a few days. In some instances the stent itself can cause bleeding due to rubbing against the bladder but it should never be too much. If the bleeding does not settle down in a day or so, if you feel extremely tired, have severe abdominal pain, or if you have a fever that is not going away, I would suggest you report back to the hospital for them to check you out.
For me, it is standard practice to prescribe an alpha blocker such as Tamsulosin and a bladder relaxant such as Miragbegron for patients with stents. This reduces the chances of the stent causing bleeding due to bladder irritation and also helps keep the urine clean. I hope this has been prescribed to you as well.
